Winn-Dixies Galore

Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone! Hope everyone has had a lovely feast! And with that out of the way, it's time to share and dump a collection of Winn-Dixie photos from various sources. Enjoy.

Most Winn-Dixie stores shown in these photos have closed down in 2005 due to the chain's chapter 11 bankruptcy liquidations; one store shown was shortly sold to and reopened as a Food Lion in the summer of 2005.

Winn-Dixie #734 - Valrico, FL - screencap from WSOC-TV Charlotte
The store made the headlines in a most disturbing manner - shortly after a man went to buy a newspaper at the Valrico W-D, he was abducted and set ablaze. Disturbing story, huh? The store later closed (possibly?) in 2005.

Winn-Dixie #2038 - China Grove, NC
Sold to Food Lion in July of 2005, and became FL store #2650 on August 15th of that year. The store serves nearby areas of China Grove, Landis, North Kannapolis, and southern Rowan County.

Winn-Dixie #2032 - Salisbury, NC - from Loopnet
Also featuring what was Crown Drug store #20, which later became Eckerd #3320. Closed in mid-2005. The store served the residents of the Salisbury, Spencer, Cleveland, and Woodleaf areas.

Winn-Dixie #2036 - Granite Quarry, NC
The store photo was taken sometime in the summer of 2004. Store #2036 served the eastern parts of Salisbury, Granite Quarry, Faith, Rockwell, Gold Hill, and eastern Rowan County.

Winn-Dixie #2048 - Kannapolis, NC - 2003 Cabarrus County photo
Store opened in 1994, rising from the ashes of a Zayre department store. Served most of Cabarrus County, including Kannapolis, Concord, Mt. Pleasant, Midland, and parts of Locust.

Winn-Dixie #1036 - Laurens, SC
Pretty self-explanatory. Closed around mid-2005.

Winn-Dixie #2055 - Belmont, NC
Closed in 2005 due to bankruptcy. Subdivided, with the right half currently being Aldi.
